Hi guys,
I'm not sure if this is in the right section of the forum so my apologies if it is. I have been bus driving for about 10 years and I have seriously had enough!! Sick to death of being the front line person taking the sh*t because management have made changes!!

Anyway, I'm looking at leaving the public transport industry asap, because I enjoy driving I want to remain in a similar position, probably something along the lines of Deliveries, most only require a clean car licence but the better paid positions are 7.5 tonne, obviously you are limited to 3.5 tonne on a standard car licence. But I also have a PCV licence.

Am I right in thinking I can apply to the DVLA to have the 7.5 tonne entitlement added to my licence on the basis I have the PCV entitlement. I am sure I saw somewhere last year that this was something new the DVLA had introduced. I obtained my car licence after the 1997 cut off date when the 7.5 tonne licence was automatically included.

Thank you in advance for any advice. Please correct me if I wrong in regards to the 7.5 tonne upgrade.

You'd probably get a better response in the motoring sub forum.

My understanding is you need to do C1 test to drive 7.5 tonne vehicles whether you have a PCV or not.

If you got your licence prior to 1997 you can drive 7.5 ton vehicle , apparently i can although its way down on my "to do " list .

We can indeed along, with quite a few other interesting things too.

It is because we are inherently so much more responsible than the younger generation :rotfl:

You'll need to get your class 2 (also known as C) hgv licence I think. The fact that you have a pcv won't come in to it

I have a class 2 hgv licence, if I want to drive a pcv I need to take the test

Truck Net UK is a good place to start, there's a newbie\wannabe section
