Greek Style Youghurt

I’m switching my youghurt from the normal to Greek Style. However, I’m wondering if there is any real difference between Greek Youghurt and Greek Style Youghurt here in the U.K.?
My main supermarkets are Sainsbury’s, M&S, and Lidl. So I’m especially in their brands, though I’m sure others would be interested in other major supermarket brands

Why not make your own? A yoghurt maker helps but you need to choose one which maintains the correct temperature because some get too hot. Adding some powdered milk helps thicken the yoghurt and make it set better. I used the Sainsbury powdered milk which was about 400g and fairly inexpensive.
You can buy yoghurt cultures on Amazon and eBay and then you do not need to purchase again because you can use some of the last batch as a starter. Look out for what bacteria are present because some have more health promoting effects than others. You never know what is in Supermarket yoghurt.
Mine always come out set and firm after about 3.5-3.75 hours. Judging the time correctly so there is as little curds and whey provides the best yoghurt in my experience. Curds and whey make it runnier. I do not waste time with Greek yoghurt.0 -
They are quite different in texture and taste. Greek style yogurt is like normal yogurt, but thicker/creamier. Greek yogurt is much more tangy and has a slightly whipped texture.0

I buy Sainsbury’s own fat free Greek yogurt every week. Love it. I have also tried the Icelandic Skyr brand which is very thick and totally different, but quite a bit more expensive.0

The Lidl plain Greek style one does me. I have it with fruit for breakfast or to thicken curries etc. Possibly bears no relation the original but fine for how I use it.
I use the smaller 4 pack and you can safely ignore the use by date if they're short dated - at least I've not poisoned myself so far.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I buy 'authentic Greek yogurt' from Aldi.
It is a different texture to the Greek style, much thicker.

I'd also recommend Aldi's Greek Yoghurt. I buy the fat free version but there is also full fat. Very like Total yoghurt but about half the price!0

Greek yogurt is made in Greece except in USA when Fage Total yogurt is made in USA. Greek yogurt is strained so I guess that makes it thicker. I buy the fattier Total in ASDA as usually cheaper than Sainsbury's. I love it so does husband.0

I think it can't be called Greek yoghurt unless it comes from Greece. It's delicious, even in the lower fat versions. I make my own (Greek style) with the Easiyo mixes and use it in both sweet and savoury dishes and in smoothies too.
I also like the Lancashire Farm Greek style yoghurts that come in the big pots at a very reasonable price (currently £1.50 for 1kg but was £1 last time I bought it). It's actually cheaper than making my own at that price.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
