Calculating final pay - salaried job

Hi there,

I am leaving my current job on the 24th of this month, exactly one week before payday. Im trying to calculate what my final pay should be, as my employer has a bit of a reputation for getting it wrong. The pay period is five weeks long, when it is normally four weeks.

My salary is £17,700.

I have divided this by 52 to calculate how much I 'get' per week, Aprox £340.38.

I have then counted how many weeks I will have worked this year, which is 34.

I then multiply £340.38 by 34 weeks to calculate how much pay I should receive for the year so far when I leave. This gives around £11,572.92

Finally I add up by gross pay from my pay slips for this year so far. And deduct this from the figure above. Doing this gives a difference of around £1248.08 which then gives me my final pay (before tax and pension).

Does this seem right?

Thanks,

Depends how they manage payroll - we wouldn't do it the way you are thinking.

Each month apart from the first and last you would be paid 1/12th of your annual salary (£1475).
In your first and final month you would be paid for the number of days worked so assuming you work Mon to Fri each week we'd calculate final pay as 18 days at £68.08 = £1225.38.
