And the tv coverage at the time. It was on the news frequently because of the court ruling requiring equalisation. There were also pension adverts, the pension statements, leaflets in banks etc. We had little cards on the counter to give to every woman to show them the scale changes. It had a lot of coverage. Problem is that many of the women affected were in their 30s and early 40s at the time retirement wasnt exactly high on their list of priorities.

If WASPI had't been greedy and focused on the 2011 changes then they would have had a lot more support. The 1993 charges though have no sympathy.

My theory is that these women just thought 'only applies to pensioners - not me' and promptly forgot about it. You're right when you say it was well advertised and discussed at the time - even my mother knew about it, even though she had been almost house bound for 6 months before her death in July 1995. It didn't affect her, as she was over 60, but I well remember her having a moan on my and my sister's behalf!

Yes scammers are the scum of the earth.
But there!!!8217;s also the 1950s women who have been deprived of up to £45,000 of their pensions by having their pension age pushed back by up to 6 years with little or no notice and no time to make alternative arrangements...

That's a bit harsh. WASPI may be grasping, scheming, champagne-swilling liars, but it's going a bit far to bracket them with scammers as the scum of the earth.
