Weekly/Monthly Bus Ticket Rip-Off

Our local Park & Ride bus service in Bristol is ending at the end of the month - it will be replaced by a new (more useless) Metrobus service. With the P&R, you could buy (electronically or on a paper slip) multiple day tickets, which means you only use a ticket when you use the P&R.
However the Metrobus service has done away with this and you have to buy a single day ticket or (to reduce the costs) a weekly, monthy or annual season ticket. But this means that after activating the first ticket the clock is ticking and you have to use it or lose it. Surely they should not be able to sell just this type of ticket - I want to buy a block of tickets to save money but I am loosing any saving if I work from home (or in another office not serviced by this P&R), go sick or have to take an unexpected day off work - surely this is not fair (excuse the bus pun!)

Many thanks,

I think you were fortunate to have the carnet style tickets available previously, they really aren't very common, and a proper season ticket is what most public transport operators will offer.0
