If your aiming for a sub £30 unit the best option left (sony sold out) would be the Ricoh MP5308d although it is only 8x it is a reliable model from what I hear although I couldn't find any reviews on it you might like to try a search yourself,

For a little bit more you could go for the pioneer 109 but beware there are two option for this model, check with bigpockets for advice as to which would be the most appropriate for your needs they can be very helpfull and respond quickly to emails most of the time.

I have made several purchases from bigpockets in the past and found them reliable and responsive, you may be able to get some of these models a bit cheaper elsewhere but bigpockets do seem to make an effort to attract forum customers so you could do worse elsewhere for service in the event something goes wrong with your unit.

    best one is nec 3520
  • They dont seem that cheap at all, and bigpockets Customer service is the worst.

Get one from SVP, more or less the same money, but if it goes wrong, email them, they will collect it from your house and return a new one.My pioneer 105 died 11months into its life, they sent me a brand new 107 to replace it with.

I also don't rate bigpockets customer service. Look at their RMA policy which you have to agree to before they will issue a returns number. I had faulty discs from them ( visible holes in the dye layer). I had to return them at my expense, wait the 7 days from when they got thaem back (they stipulate that they need 7 days to check the goods are faulty). Then still no contact. I had to contact them again to get the replacements. And guess what - several of the replacement had the same dye fault (it would have cost me more to return them - i just gave up).
Three weeks to replace faulty items is not good service. The puchaser should get return delivery costs refunded for faulty goods too ( though quite a lot of internet retailers shy away from this responsibility)..
