L & C Experience

Hey, so I’m just looking for recent experience other people have had with L & C

I keyed in some details to see what remortgage details I could get then had the standard message “we need more info we will be in touch” within minutes I got a call went through everything next day gave me recommendations called when they said they would etc etc since then I’ve spoke to two other brokers from L&C as first one was on holiday - now I can’t get anything from any of them!! Confirmed they had all my paperwork last Wednesday and couldn’t see a problem with anything - I’ve never heard anything since!! I’ve asked for an update today and the second broker is on holiday, contacted his supervisor as per his out of office and had no response at all - all I want is an update :(

The dash board has said the same thing since 3rd August “submitted”

Am I wasting my time?

You need to get all 3 credit files - not just equifax (clearscore) but experian (MSE credit club) and call credit (Noddle) (companies in brackets are where you get the free report for those agencies from).

It is possible that your other records may have info on that isnt on equifax so worth checking all 3 and getting copies. The broker then may be able to choose a lender based on this information if there is anything which may cause issues on one report.

From what I have read on here, I am led to believe they work well when its a clean case but when it's not they do appear to struggle.

FTB here. During my 2 months process we have had various issues with them, missed e-mails, wrong application forms and that caused plenty of delays. Not to mention the holidays, and "no-one else can help other than your adviser" replies..
Usually I got the information directly from the bank 2-3 days before L&C came back to me, however as a first time buyer, surely there was some steps I couldn't do alone (or was just worried to try).
If the fixed term expires, I think I will do the remortgage alone next time.

Thanks middleclassbutpoor thought I was ok to set another post linking direct to L&C themselves - seeing as my first post was about a direct AIP decline... thanks for the info on credit checks

Apologies, hadn't realised that they were 2 separate applications.

Definitely get hold of all 3 reports to avoid more DIPs being done and it trashing your credit file for a short period.

Signed up to credit club and it!!!8217;s showing a new account which Equifax isn!!!8217;t so thank you for your advice (however I did advise L&C of this and gave the amount)

I!!!8217;ll get the other now and call them tomorrow!! Thanks again
  • Check closely for any missed payment or incorrect payments on each of your accounts. Also check you are showing on electoral roll and things like CIFAS warnings etc.

When you have all 3 then you should know whether the initial decline was down to your credit file or whether it was more to do with you not being a good fit for their criteria.

L&C, like other online/direct brokers tend to work fine when cases are easy. The minute they get difficult or complicated, you see the limitations of online/direct offerings compared to the much easier local broker.

Hey!! Just as an update I finally got some contact back after several emails to the 3 different people I dealt with!! Turns out Halifax wouldn’t accept me due to the high credit balances (which were being written off with the remortgage anyway) so they decided accord would be the bext best thing so fingers crossed!! Accord accepted our application and have requested bank statements to confirm salary from payslips!! Soft search was done 16th (same day they accepted! Now a hard search is showing dated 18th so hopefully they are working on it and everything will go through OK!!
  • always nice to see how things have progressed. Thanks for the update
