Mortgage for covertion hmo to residential

I would like to buy a house that is formerly an HMO and want to convert it back to a single dwelling, residential. However I’ve been told I wouldn’t be able to get a mortgage on it due to it being layed out as an HMO...... what can I do?

I assume there are Lenders out there that will give you a mortgage to purchase HMO. Then you can use your savings or a separate loan to do the conversion if allowed by the mortgage. then re-mortgage to a residential mortgage.

I don't think you will have much luck in finding a lender which will lend you mortgage for the purchase price + costs of conversion.
  • Who told you that you cannot get a mortgage? If it's your current/chosen lender then shop around. There are absolutely mortgages available for you.

I've used NatWest in the past.
