What is the definition total income/salary in relation to a mortgage and the figure I should imput into caculators or on mortgage websites?
Currently my salary is made up of the following:
When filling in mortgage/affordability caculators, I am assuming (hopefully) that I can include base salary, London allowance and car allowances, is that correct?
For the bonus I have been told you only count 50% of that and I have added that in when its asked specifically what my bonus is, although I am assuming you don't include that 50% of the bonus in a total annual income figure if it isn't broken down or there isnt a bonus box?

First 3 would usually be classed as normal wages and included 100%.
The last one will vary from lender to lender an how your bonus is paid. For example, some will average the last 3 or 6 months payslips, others will look at a P60. If it is paid monthly/quarterly/annually etc it can all alter how much is used.
With the bonus, you just need to check with the lender really. Using 50% should not be too far out, but better to check now.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Okay thanks, my main concern was around the London allowance/Car allowance so just happy thats def included. Not too bothered about the bonus, but I guess its good to know as I am looking at buying a shared ownership apartment and some of the scheme have a min salary on top of the overall £80k/£90k max salary for eligibility. I saw one the other day and I was short by about £1k in terms of min salary, but if bonus was included I would have been okay.0
