Is this a silly question???

Hello everyone,

I have a potentially silly question to ask but i know if anyone knows the answer, you guuys will!!

Basically i am making a lovely sticky guiness pudding this weekend - sounds wrong but tastes oh so right - thank you Mr Rimmer! http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/stickyguinnesspuddin_85658.shtml

Anyway we alreday have cans of guiness left over from a party but the last time i made this i only used half the can and had to throw the rest away as neither i or the OH really like it. ...Now my potentially silly question is... if i poured it into an airtight container could i freeze the remains?? I know you can freeze alcohol but i wasn't sure about this with the gas and everything??
:o

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've not yet looked at the recipe, but could you make 2 of those and freeze one....this is in case the Guinness can't be frozen.
Or, use it in a steak and ale pie sort of recipe.

no silly questions on MSE :)

if you're worried about the gas, just pour it into the container & let it sit (uncovered or loosely covered) for a while for the gas to disperse, then freeze it
or you could just send it to me to drink :D

    the recipe looks delicious

OMG this sounds amazing, thanks for linking in the recipe! I'd second whatatwit and make a a savoury dish with it, maybe beef and guinness stew or if you live near me I'd be happy to take it off your hands :D

Thanks for all the advice everyone - in the past i would have just chucked it down the sink but since becoming an MSE convert i can't even entertain the idea!! I might try and see if the it looks freezable once it's settled. If not then the steak and ale pie sounds really good!

I can certainly recommend it, the pudding just comes out sticky and rich (andthe part where you mix the guiness and dates comes out as a black goo - and thats how it's supposed to be... i panicked when i saw it!!)

I hope you all give it a go, and thanks again for the advice, i knew i would get some ideas on here!
