Budget inform me I owe them £40 for leaving within my contract period. As a keypad customer is this enforceable? When I signed up originally the budget energy guy told me to ignore exit fees for keypad customers however the letter threatens the debt being passed on to a collection company and additional fees.
Anyone any experience? Just curious.

Hi Wacko,
I have a similar situation where the sales rep for both the old and new provider stated that the early termination fees are not enforced for keypad customers. I only just received the £40 penalty email from Budget Energy for switching during my contract. Could you confirm if it is enforceable and if you paid your penalty?

Ring up Budget and ask them to drop the £40 charge due to the sales person misselling the tariff to you in order to get their sales commission, otherwise lodge an official complaint.
