Some Advice, I've been alittle naughty

ok I am massively indebt and am considering bankcruptcy, but I've been alittle naughty.

I've been out of work for a few months but i applied for a halifax one credit card and said i was still with my previous employer(which i know was naughty, but i was desperate and needed some money).

So my couple of questions are :-

1. Will halifax kick my !!!!!! if i go bankrupt.
2. do i come clean and tell the Official Receiver

Thanks in advance for any responses, this will really help me out.

Knowingly making false statements on a credit card application to obtain cash you know you can't repay is fraud, and I don't imagine that the Halifax will be at all happy about it if you default. Whether there is much they can do in a practical sense to punish you is debatable, but they can certainly make your life in the future very tough as you will find it impossible to get credit.

Going bankrupt isn't a soft option anyway - get to a CAB to talk about your debt problem and how you can address it.
  • I have already spoken to the national debtline, they've been very helpful and have sent me a very informative pack.

I feel maybe I should explain alittle of why I obtain the halifax card.

My Egg card is creeping into the 7k mark, I thought I'd manage to get into employment rather quickly (I have professional qualifications) so I done a transfer balance to the Halifax to take advantage of the 0%.

I have been making payments to all my creditors(including halifax), but now I'm running out of money (also I didnt imagine I would have to take on one of my previous employer's in the small claims court to recieve money owing to me).

I planning on doing my letters to all creditors for a token payment of 1 pound per month.

Thanks for your advice and I think I will arrange for an in-person chat with the CAB to see how best to proceed.

With £7k debt and not yet behind on payments, it doesn't look like you are a very good case for bankruptcy, especially as you will probably find work eventually? Can you get work in a bar or ANYTHING to tide you over for a while? Don't give up!
    I'm married now! Yippee!
