Moorecroft or Halifax,advice needed please

My sister has been paying a debt agency a Halifax debt for about 6 years,very little has been taken off it.
Now Moorcroft have contacted her to let her know they have taken over the debt,she still has £4,000 left to pay.
Im able to help her a little bit and have advised her to offer a full and final payment of around £1,500,Im willing to go to £2,000 to help her end this debt.

Were just not sure who we should contact...!!!8230;!!!8230;!!!8230;..would it be Moorecroft or would it be Halifax to ask if this would be possible.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You will need to make your full & final offer to Moorcroft as they are responsible for dealing with the debt. Where the debt collection agency (DCA) has bought the debt, they decide whether to accept the offer. If they are only acting on behalf of the original creditor, they will ask the creditor whether they want to accept the offer.

Hi,


Moorcroft no longer buy debts, so will be acting as agents to the Halifax.


However, they have been engaged to act as representative for the creditor, so all comms must go through them.


Probably a better first step would be to make a CCA request to moorcroft, could help in the negotiations stage if compliant paperwork was not available.

Thanks so much National De and sourcrates for your information.I will show your replies to my sister and will get her to write to Moorecroft this weekend.She thinks she hasn't got a cat in hells chance but its worth giving it a go.Many thanks indeed.
