Not much to report today but was a NSD, tomorrow i'm hoping to pop to B&Q to get some wood to finish my first DIY project but that should be coming out of the money I saved from the bed so should be able to make a further OP tomorrow

Still waiting on Enstroga to call me back regarding switching over to them so not looking good on the customer service front at the moment but they are still currently the cheapest deal according to the cheap energy club, may try giving them a call tomorrow if I get a chance.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

Managed to get the wood I needed from B&Q Friday along with a saw & some sanding paper - total spent - £12.46. Can't wait for the actual shelves to arrive so I can put them up and finally the bedroom will be pretty much complete

This weekend has been a quiet one for us, weekly food shop done yesterday and then had an urge to purchase lots of cleaning products after becoming obsessed with Mrs Hinch (if you don't know what i'm talking about then go find her on Instagram) - spent the rest of the weekend cleaning which is why I've only just sat down to update you all.

Have just made an OP of £100.76 which is a combination of what's left from the money saved from the cheaper bed and the odd change from my current account to bring it to the nearest £1.

£184 remaining till payday (20 days time) which sounds doable but will still need train tickets & food, wish me luck!

Must remember to get on to changing electric suppliers this week and find a way to get rid/sell/donate my old bed when the new one arrives.

This week should be fun, new bed arriving Tuesday, hopefully accompanied by the new bedroom blinds and shelves at some point all in time for the father in law to put them all up when they visit Saturday.

I only just realised soda water is generally free in pubs last month which is a game changer for me- much better than diet coke & free/minimal pennies

I'm off to look at Mrs Hinch on insta- we're just back from holiday and I'm needing some new focusses now the holiday planning/dreaming is done!

Just found your diary - looks like you are doing really well. To make an overpayment that largein month 1 is fantastic! We didn't start overpaying until we had been in our new place for 9 months - wish I had started immediately!


One comment though - saving £700 for a new phone? Wow! That had better be a very high tech all signing all dancing phone for that money!

VDOT47: It's great but there is method in the madness, I know that November & December will be tough months financially so need to make as many overpayments as possible this month to ensure I can remortgage at 85% LTV.

Ideally I want to get the new Iphone however as that's more than £700 i'm basically going to keep saving until my current phone completely dies and will see what position I am in then as to what phone I can get at the time.

Not much to report so far today, popped out on lunch and bought some storage boxes from Matalan - definitely the last thing being bought for the bedroom, no more spending for MrMFW as I still need to buy train tickets, food and have a few friends/family visiting this month so need every penny I can get my hands on

Morning all - so sorry this week has just flown by and have had little chance to post.

This week has been slightly boring on the money saving front - decided we needed a treat so takeaway is on me this evening, got a 20% off voucher so spent only £15 for the two of us

Have also had to purchase train tickets at £20 which has made me look in to season tickets, didn't realise it would save me around £20 a month buying a monthly ticket or £26 a month buying a yearly ticket - we are getting a new train operator on Sunday as Arriva Trains have lost their Contract so will look in to this properly toward the end of the month.

£115 left of the budget this month and with one weekend remaining after this one I think we will manage it

Evening All,

Never say this but I actually had a good Monday :rotfl: NSD and then I got a box of chocolates from work for hitting target - goes without saying we have finished them off this evening haha!

Have actually come up with a little side business idea over the past few days, need to find some cash from somewhere to make it work as it will need a small outlay to get things up and running, definitely going to look in to this a bit more! - thinking of 'borrowing' some funds from the Rainy Day fund but we shall see.

£82.29 left of the £250 month budget, would have liked to have around £100 remaining but definitely still do-able

Evening all - finally went for the plunge today and 'borrowed' some money from the 'rainy day' pot to invest a little in that business idea I have.

Will keep you all updated but am very excited

For those worried that I still haven't saved enough for my rainy day fund I am quite lucky in the industry I am in that if anything were to happen I'd luckily be able to get another comparable job within a week.

Another NSD today and am hoping I can say the same tomorrow
