Thanks have booked in and hopefully can tick off one of my nagging outstanding tasks!0

Thanks. Been meaning to sort this for a long time, and Macmillan are a great charity who have helped my wife and I enormously.0
-
A number of charities do this - without time limit.
eg Cancer ResearchUK (over 55s) - other charities do it too.
Although there is no obligation, they obviously hope /expect you will leave them a legacy in the will - that's why they are willing to pay the solicitor's fee for drawing up the will.0 -
In most of the 'free will' services, the charity doesn't pay anything. The solicitors donate their time. That's why the offers are usually limited in time.
So the Macmillan on, Macmillan won't be paying anything, but the solicitors who participate will be donating their time and expertise for free.
in some cases, the way it works is that the client pays a reduced fee which goes directly to the charity, and the solicitors donate their time, so you get a cheap will and your charity gets a donation. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
It seems to vary.
Wen I had mine drawn up, I had to sign an agreement confirming the work the solicitor had done which was sent to the charity with the solicitor's invoice I believe - do yes, the charity paid in that case.
Obviously the amount I left them in my will would more than compensate them in the long run.0
