In my IVA bumf it states that I may be able to take a payment holiday, which will be then added onto the term of the agreement. but it has to have a reasonable answer...
would I be able to phone my IVA people asking them for a one month payment holiday, as Christmas is coming? As last year it all went on Credit and Store cards......................

not 100% certain but i was told that payments breaks would only possibly be considered for emergencies like the car you need for work breaks down or dies completely and you need to replace it as there is no other way of getting to and from place of employment.0

Yep, not likely you'll be allowed a payment break for Christmas, but it doesn't hurt to ask - nothing ventured nothing gained.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW Nerd #4910

better to keep a payment break for a real emergency.. who knows it may just occur in January.0

I agree with Clapton, keep the payment break in case you really need it. Christmas doesn't need to be expensive. Keep the cost of gifts down, make things, get stuff on ebay, do surveys, pigsback. The christmas board has loads of tips and ideas for a budget christmas which looks like you've spent a fortune. Remember it's just one day.:A

I know I'm humbug, but I feel Christmas, the way it's become these days is just one big commercial rip off.
My family & close friends have got used to me by now when I say small gift for Christmas & nice pressie for Birthday (which can be more easily budgeted for).
Does anyone have any DFW (free!) airline tickets to Outer Mongolia over the festive period that they don't want?Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

Hi!
we had a payment break when DH was off work for a long time but we had to pay it back over the next 10 months which was a struggle on top of the usual payments. You should have a contingency fund in your budgeting when you set it up which is supposed to be for things like christmas and birthdays I think. I know its not easy to put money away but this problem will crop up every year unless you put some away each month for it.I would ask your IP, you've nothing to lose by asking!Do what you love :happyhear0
