Hi, I am starting a new job on 3rd Sept. and am looking for appr. 3000 GBP to bridge the gap till my first pay-day.
Have worked abroad for several years, came back April last year so no credit history; do not have any debts or utility bills/contracts (phone etc.)
Please advise best way forward: short term loan/credit card????

Do you have an income at all at the moment?

If not, you need to look at non credit solutions.

You wont get a loan with no income - doubtful you will get a credit card either.

How have you been surviving the last 4 months since you landed in the UK?

Part time job would be my first choice to bridge the gap until 3rd September.

You may just be able to get a sub-prime card for people with little credit history. But it will probably have a limit of £500 or less. You won't be eligible for a loan except maybe a payday loan which is 1291% APR interest.

Both of the options are very expensive due to high interest. You will most likely first need to get a job to be able to use the more viable, cheaper, options.

I agree with the agency option. Tons of work around at the moment especially in warehousing and factory work.

if you've been back in the UK for 18 months, what have you been living off since then? and why £3k for next 8 weeks (assuming you get paid end of September)
what would the loan be for?

£3k is ambitious when you don't have a job.

Morality aside. If you have no income, no savings, no assets go to the job centre. at least you will received something.
