I got solar fitted at the end of June, i've been reading lots of people's quotes and just wondering if what I paid was decent or if i've been robbed.
I have 8 x JA Solar 300W panels (max roof could take) and a solar edge 2200 invertor. I have a massive tree near my property, there is a chance I could get shading off this.
I was quoted for LG 320W panels but the price difference was massive for an extra 160W so decided against it. Even though when I googled both panels they were similar prices, although they said the JA had built in optimisers but the LG ones had to have one fitted to every panel?
Anyway, all in I paid £3895. Up to now the Solaredge app is saying i've generated 404kWh, generation meter is showing 10kWh less for some reason?

The time to ask about the price would have been before you agreed to have it installed.
Short of you posting the quote that you were given with what was on it for the price it is hard to say if you overpaid. Did you get quotes from other companies?
On the subject of shading I would presume SolarEdge was chosen because your installer had stated you would get shading. If not then SolarEdge is not the obvious choice. Which way is your system facing and where in relation to your system is the Big Tree? With the path of the Sun when in the year will the tree get in the way from the direction of the sun? I would ask why they have not installed a 3kW inverter?
You can get 8 of your panels on Ebay for £1746 and the inverter for £540.
If you have overpaid then I doubt you can do anything about it. Be thankful you have not gone with a certain company whose name is regularly on the boards for being overpriced.
Have to be careful what I say now as I was accused of making a Libellous statement about one PV Company!
After 4 years my system is about 0.85% out with what my generation meter says.3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0 -
It might not be the best price, but I don't think you've been robbed. Sort of middling to poor perhaps, but a nice size for a 'lowish' price.
Both my systems are Solaredge and I've found both fib about generation claiming about 1-2% more than the TGM says. Previously I had two SMA inverters and they were out the other way always underestimating generation by 1-3%.
The inverters probably have a disclaimer somewhere about only being a guide.
Having said that, I've found the Solaredge monitoring extremely accurate for import, and therefore I assume export, so at least the clamp based data seems reliable.
The issue of inverter v's TGM readings comes up every now and then, and some of the differences are much bigger +/- 5%!Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
