I'm looking to return to work shortly.
I've had a three year gap looking after my disabled son as a single mum.
Managed to secure two interviews next week which was exciting until I discovered I'm in a UC area and will potentially have to wait 6 weeks for any payments.
How the heck do I manage this?
Anyone else gone through it? How did you cope?
I'm in private rented BTW. Not sure my landlord would want to wait for the rent.

Presumably you wouldn't wait 6 weeks for wages though?I'm looking to return to work shortly.

I'd suggest if there is a delay speak to the landlord in advance and explain the circumstances.
(eviction takes WAY longer than 6 weeks anyway)0 -
We pay a month after the HB claim ends to those transitioning to UC. Check with your local benefit office.
You can also apply for an advance on your UC.0 -
Keep focussed on getting a job as soon as you can. Someone's just been to an interview this Friday been offered job/4 week paid trial to start Monday because they are available immediately. They only applied for the job Wednesday but it would take care of UC. (6 interviews offered in just under 2 weeks it will be) can't believe they have dodged their need to go into job centre yet again !!
have fingers crossed for your interviews coming good. 0
