My father has not worked for 4 years, Me and my sisters have to sponsor it, but we have our own families and small children, sometimes we do not have enough money. How can he explain that it's time to find work?

    Hi,

I don`t really think your inquiry is bankruptcy related to be honest.

I will move it to the DFW forum, as it concerns debt.

I think people will require a lot more detail in order to help you.

Hi Agnes Waal and welcome to MSE,

First of all, it is understandable that a situation like this can be hard and there may be some hard conversations ahead. Your father may not know if he is entitled to any benefits or how to claim, so the first step would be to check what support he is entitled to if he chooses to stay out of work - www.turn2us.org.uk

Beyond that there is a degree of personal choice. If he doesn't want to claim any benefits or find work, then the difficult decision falls to you (and your sister's) about what you do next. If you can no longer afford to support him you need to make that clear. He may need to consider selling assets to support himself if benefits and work are unsuitable. Can you clarify if you, your sister's or your dad have got debts as a result of this? If so, that is something we can help with further. Best of luck,

    Laura
