You can get through to them on that number, I kept trying options as I was the same with the old 13 digit one and got through eventually.
They make you jump through lots of stupid steps e.g. ask you for your address (must match the system they have) but you can only give them one address at a time (so I had my home address, then my current address). Then they ask you for which university it was, again, one at a time. I started at university A when the loan was taken out (A then changed their name tothen started a new course at university C the next year, then C changed their name to D and I had to read off each one, one at a time for the guy to say no, until I got to the correct one (which was the final name of the university I finished at)
The guy was very patient however, full credit to him and we got the number eventually and I could loginSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

i spoke to them recently and found them surprisingly helpful after only ever really reading negative reviews.
Maybe your wife couldn't remember enough security info for them to re set over the phone? either way fingers crossed for a speedy result when they receive the letter0 -
I called them a few months ago and was surprised at how helpful they were, they emailed me with new login details so I could check my account the same day. I hope you get things sorted anyway.0

I had a very similar issue when I'd been out of the loop with them for at least 5 years (due to house moves etc) and ended up writing to them as had no joy on the phone or online at all. Was sorted after that though.0
