Endowment proof for payout - Help !

I bought my first house with an endowment mortgage (Abbey National + Friends Provident) - when I moved house, I converted mortgage to C&G repayment type & kept the endowment policy going as a savings plan (having been told that it would not perform as well as anticipated & would have a significant shortfall) - 12 years ago changed to Nationwide for the mortgage & have kept up payments into the endowment fund. Finally I have reached that elusive goal of paying off mortgage & the endowment maturity date. Aviva (who took over Friends Provident) have written to me saying that they have contacted Santander (who took over Abbey National) for them declare no further interest in the property (the mortgage was on previous property) I have contacted Santander, they have no record of me / previous Abbey mortgage / no one knows where the declaration of interest/ no interest has gone to at Santander ...they are doing a records search but now worried that I will miss out on the endowment payout (roughly £26k & desperately needed!) Any other avenues/ideas that I can pursue please !!

This is not an issue but the frontline staff are likely to be next to useless.

All it needs is for Santander to say that they have no interest in the policy. A simple sentence or two on headed paper and sent to Aviva.

If you are getting nowhere with Santander regarding this then you raise a complaint to Santander and it will then be done.

It's probably sitting in the file of the solicitor who discharged the Abbey National/Santander mortgage. The policy documentation was usually sent back to them with the reassignment notice after the mortgage was redeemed.

Thank you - hopefully you are right- Aviva said that when the original mortgage was redeemed they received no notification from either Abbey / Santander or C&G and it wasn't their role to chase up!

My husband and I have literally just been through this process with Aviva. It took us from November until late June before we got our payout. Our original mortgage was with First Active and endowment with Friends later Aviva.

As advised frontline staff had no idea what to do and solicitor said they no longer had original papers. After a very long process going from pillar to post we only got resolution when we raised a complaint with RBS in our case, and it was as simple as the complaints team sending a letter to Aviva stating they had no interest in our mortgage or endowment. Aviva would only accept a letter through snail mail, email confirmation wasn't accepted but long story short we got our payout so hang in there.
