It's peak summer, so time for a question we ask every year... if and when you travel abroad, how do you usually spend?

If you use a combination of methods, pick the one you use most often

It's a bit restricting to only be able to vote for one thing. I mainly use a specialist 0% spend card, but I also take cash with me too.

Why would you take cash with you when you can get an almost perfect exchange rate using the right card and withdrawing cash as you need it?

I've never been abroad. I doubt I'll ever go.

I posted because the title makes an assumption by using "when" and not "if".

Because I wouldn't use a card for small value things. I've been to places where I've needed cash before I get to somewhere where I can get any.

    My method's not offered!

Don't know about other destinations but when in North Cyprus, I withdraw sterling from ATM's and exchange for Turkish lira in a high street exchange bureau - best rate ever, and you'll often learn a few words of Turkish at the same time!

I use Halifax Clarity credit card for most purchases and drawing cash from ATM . After an ATM withdrawal I go online and repay that money so that there is no interest to pay.

Take a couple of hundred euros or dollars, but generally use Saga or Nationwide credit cards.
