Credit File After Bankcuptcy

Good afternoon all,

I was declared bankcrupt back in March of 2014 discharged in March 2015 and made payments towards my debts via an IPA until July 2017. I have been working hard to re build my credit rating, usual things like only having a small amount of credit, keeping it under 50% and always ensuring the bills are cleared. This is having a positive effect on my credit score. However I am concerned as 3 of my creditiors still have accounts on my file with large amounts showing as in default, however also as closed. I have contacted them and asked them to change the credit report to show as satisfied or clear the amount. They are informing me they have no record of me becoming bankcrupt and are asking for all kinds of information. Im concered that they will try and make my pay these debt. Has anyone else come across this and can you offer any advise

Defaults will remain on your account for up to 6 years form 1st default
Send them the information they request - copies i am sure can be sent by OR. if they have not chased you for it yet, and been discharged for three years, doubt they would start chasing again. but be on the safe side and send the info

however, check the following to ensure the debt amounts you are talking about are not listed here:

    Hi Stavros_uk,

Assuming that the debts you are describing were included in your bankruptcy order, they should no longer have a balance showing on your credit file.

Craig1981 is correct that the defaults will show for 6 years from the date of default, but no default should post date your bankruptcy order date. The debts should show that nothing more is owing, this may be with a partially settled marker and/or a £0 balance. If the creditors have not done this you should raise a formal complaint, include details of your bankruptcy order and ask for your credit file to be corrected ASAP. If they fail to do this then you can escalate the matter to the Information Commissioners Office.
