Hi

This is my 1st post, i have just recieved a phone call from 1st credit debt agency about collection of my £1000 aqua card! This is the 1st call from them and they are demanding i pay the sum in 7 days which i cant afford to do they wont take a repayment plan with me beacuse i was unable to keep to the one with aqua! They say i have till next thursday.

What can i do to make them take a repayment plan and to say to them? They said i was dictating to them when i said i can only afford a repayment plan. They threatned to take items from my home and also that i should ask family and friends for the money.

Any help would be greatly welcomed!

Right. First thing to do is contact one of the debt help charities. You`ll find links in some of the main posters signatures as I`m not smart enough to get them in mine:o

CAB money advisor, Payplan, CCCS national debtline are the main places to look.

They cannot take anything from your home without a court appointed bailiff being instructed so don`t worry too much as it has not got to that stage yet.

Don`t ask anyone for money to help you until you have taken advice from one of the agencies listed.

Please don`t worry too much at this stage. Some of the other guys will be along in due course to help further.

Keep posting and you will get all the help and support you need to get you through this.

Links what TJ suggested are all in my sig below, most companies like that try the usual "scare tactics" none of which they usually carry out but they will try threats of anything to make you pay up, contact any of the debt helplines they'll give you free impartial help & hopefully sort the problem out. I know its easier said than done but as TJ suggests try not to worry

    Hi Ken
Please listen to Phil & TJ.
This company are trying to scare you. They can not remove items from your home.
Get advice immediatley from the links Phil has in his sig.
These people are bullies and sadly there tactics somtimes work but if you get help from the debt charities they should back down very quickly as the want your money not prossicuting for harrasment. But you need to feel in full controle and you can only do this if you get the correct advice on how to deal with these people.CAB & CCCS can give you this.
Please post with your concerns we will help were we can.You will find a lot more people on here who have endured what is happning to you and are better qualified to advise you than me.
Good luck for now ,keep strong.

Have you spoken to one of the agencies yet. It`s REALLY important that you do .

Also, the company is breaking all debt collection guidelines by using a threatening manner. Quote the Office of Fair Trading Guidelines if you speak to them again. Also ask for the operators name and ask if the call is being recorded. Note the date and time so that you have the information for a complaint later.

Yep. Read through the guidelines that they must stick to if they don't want the OFT to strip them of their Consumer Credit Licence (or worse):
