Hi,
oOn who is full time student is doing a summer job. 1st paycheck received.
How does he reclaim the money? Also is there a way to get paid without paying tax?

He needs to telephone HMRC to ask them to issue a PAYE tax code for his job using his full personal allowance (assuming he has no other income). Once his employer has received and processed the new PAYE tax code, tax deducted to date will be refunded via his payslip assuming he's not earning at a level high enough to pay tax.0

If he completed a new starter declaration and gave this back to his HR/payroll person then he should be on the emergency tax code which would mean tax is only deducted if he earns more than £988/month (or £228/week).
Has he done this?
How much is he earning?0 -
If, after he's done the above things, he still ends up paying some tax and stops working at the end of the summer, the tax can be claimed back. Either use form P50 or he can use his online tax account: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/income-tax-claiming-tax-back-when-you-have-stopped-working-p500
