My anniversary....

Like Rog 2, our 12 month is up today although we both got early discharges.

My BR came about due to the failure of a blue chip company to pay on time and honour contracts held with my business. Using all our savings and more to try and keep 15 people in employment for as long as possible left us in a situation where we had no alternative apart from BR. We went down for approximately £130000............yes, you read it correctly:o

Since the deed was done at 12 noon on 1/11/06 our whole situation has changed for the better. The biggest landmark was in January this year when we realised that Christmas was all paid for and there would be no big bills landing on our doorstep to cloud the next few months. The next one with OH`s early discharge and then mine

Those of you who have been around for a while will know that I used to post on here regularly throughout the first few months of the BR and both gained and shared knowledge and support from all the good guys out there. I only wish I`d found the site before the BR day. It was the week after that I came across it and boy am I glad I did. The support and information on here is just immense and immeasurable...thanks

My situation now is that I have a new business which is doing ok, our relationship with each other and the kids is stronger than it ever was and life is looking good. Cash is king although we do have a prepay visa now.

So.....there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. To those of you about to do the deed, make sure you have taken the appropriate advice and to those in the middle of your BR, hang on in there. You WILL come out the other side and things WILL improve for you.

Good luck and THANKS to you all. xx

    Congratulations.

I agree, it's great to hear a positive story and outcome from what was a horrible situation to find yourself in.

Best of luck to you and the family for the future, and keep us posted here (and elsewhere) if and when you can. :)

  • TJ, thanks for sharing that with us.
It shows what can be achieved in a very short time.
A stronger relationship is great, so many worry on here about how to tell there OH's.
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Well done TJ - That 12 month anniversary really does feel special, doesn't it?

I was really pleased when my ED came through, but it still felt a bit 'unreal' as I was in deep negociations with the Trustee over my BI. The 12 months does put the final stamp of approval on things.

I'm really pleased that your business is going well - of ALL my customers it was the 'Blue Chip' ones that gave me most problems - especially with payment - they expect you to do the job for virtually nothing because of the 'credibility' that dealing with them will give to a small business, then they don't like you to use their names in publicity and expect you to wait until they want to pay you, regardless of your trading conditions. Still, I trust that you now have your payment conditions well and truly defined.

Good Luck to you and your family.
