I declared myself bankrupt in december 05 with a personal debt of 19k, mostly owed to lloyds tsb, I was discharge at 6 months so have been free for 18 montsh or there abouts. I have had a Barclays Cashcard for a couple of years and it has served me well however i need to start rebuilding my credit score and taking responsibility for my own finances, direct debits and phone bills etc so i need to upgrade my account.. this was declined by barclays this morning as apparently my score is to low. I didnt appeal as didnt want another black mark againts my credit file, the manager said in her opinion that appealing would have been a pointless exercise anyway and maybe i should apply for a credit card.. i said no, been there and done that etc etc.
How can i move on with my financial life, is it possible to rebuild my credit score without a current account or is there a guarenteed way of getting one so that i dont have another denial on my file.

Check out the bank accounts for bankrupts sticky at the top of the front page. Co-op offer an account with an Electron card and facilities for DD's. That should get you on the road.
Have you checked your credit references with the 3 agencies to check all the debts have been marked satisfied from the bankruptcy?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I did check with experian last year but no-one else, i didnt think i would have to really ?
Just spotted the list at the top, thanks ! i'll see if there is a co-op anywhere locally.0 -
You can apply for the Co-op one online or by phone and if there isn't a branch locally to put money in etc then you can do so at the post office.
It is worth checking all 3 agencies as they will hold diffrent records and diffrent people check different angencies.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
