This is surely a 'whistle blower' situation where the whistle blower has to be certain of anonymity. Otherwise there could be severe comeback on them even if the claims are accurate.
It's not long ago that somebody at the top of one of the major banks demanded to be told the name of a whistle blower and I believe that cost them their job. In that instance they were trying to use their position of power to bully others into handing over confidential information.
The reality is that the source for the accusation is actually irrelevant to the business. What matters is whether it is true or not. I accept that the situation is very stressful for the OP either way but claims have to be investigated if they could affect the individuals ability to do their job.0 -
Have they said no? Please can you quote the OP where he asked HR whether they have checked the IP address in the header to identify where it was sent from?
I suspect you are making this up for some unknown personal agenda

Nice Chap I read that quote but it doesn't say that HR has checked the header of the email for the IP address. In my experience HR are not very IT literate and may not be aware this is something they could do to give them more information. Also it is good to know that one of your previous posts on a different thread where you claimed you put me on ignore were an exageration. It is good we can still interact together on this forum ;-)
The bottom line is that the OP is not going to get any further information from HR to enable him to identify the person who wrote it until or unless HR decide to take that route.0 -

Thanks for all the advice , i got a copy of the email under GDPR , its terrible !! Its says i have a drink and drug problem , that i should not be around the people i work with and that i am dangerous !! All a pack of lies , HR did not give me the email address but 100 % sur its my ex !! Not sure what to next0 -

Assuming HR accept that the claims have no basis if fact, drop it. You aren't going to get the e-mail address and no matter how 'sure' you are that your ex is behind it you have no proof.0 -
This is nuts. Can't you ask or recommend why they (the) company don't carry out random alcohol and drugs testing. Even though today when speaking to a recruiter, it was made clear the client would carry out testing before commencing an interview even and if successful still I would then go on to be subject to regular random checks in the job. (it's the second company now in space of weeks to mention these drug and alcohol checks regardless of position eg. being office based) (to be fair to all even if the primary worker is driver/engineer etc)0

So you're no further forward than you were before you saw the email.
You appear to be allowing yourself to be wound up by the situation which the email sender might delight in. Much better to rise above it and not give them the satisfaction their pettiness is trying to achieve.Originally Posted by shortcrust

Work have obviously realised that it was a malicious report - anything else that arrives won't be taken seriously so you're okay there.
Keep a record of the email in case other stuff gets sent to other people and you need to report it to the police.0 -
with GDPR all the extra spicy stuff is kept on WhatsApp rather than work networks0
