1 Debt, 2 Payments, 2 Companies :(

Help desperately needed please!

I've just check my online banking to find both NCO Europe and B Carter FIL CLNT have both taken £80 for exactly the same debt  I had a letter about 2 weeks ago from the B Carter people (can't remember the real name of the company - Fredrickson International I think) saying the debt had transferred to them and all future payments should be made to them. I rang and queried it and specifically asked them to confirm I wouldnt be charged twice for this and that said I wouldn't and that although the debt had been transferred, the payment details hadn't. I had no reason to doubt them as they have my other large debt, and originally both debts were with HSBC and defaulted at the same time so it makes sense they're now with the one collection agency. So I gave them the DD details and thought nothing more of it. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but last month I needed £400 works doing to my car, plus £50 for someone to get a rat out of my car, and this week I needed another (!) new windscreen (another £200!!) as someone had decided to take potshots at my car :( Added to that I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks, so now is not a good time to leave me with £30 to live on for the next 3 weeks. Sorry to ramble.

Anyway, I guess my questions are, can I get one of the repayments back? If so who from? (I guess NCO, but they're complete and utter w@nkers compared to Fredricksons) If not, do both DD's count towards the total amount repaid? I don't see how it could as both companies seem to believe I owe them both nearly £8000 and obviously aren't communicating? I don't want to lose this £80 which I can see happening if both companies say I owe them the money :( Added to all this, I'm working nights at the minute, so its diffucult to get hold of either company, or my bank, outside of NWH's :(

Thanks in advance for any advice,
StressedStacie

  • You need to decide which DD was wrongly deducted and then contact you bank and insist that they refund you that aomunt IMMEDIATELY under the DD guarantee.

DO NOT be fobbed off by them saying they have to check this that or the other, INSIST that they honour the DD guarantee now.
