one of my creditors amex has passed on my account to RMA the fee seems excessive. i will be paying off the balance i owe in the next 6 weeks.
The question is should i really have to pay this fee when i have told amex of my situation and have been making token payments to them.

I don't know the legalities of their claim. But, when I first started my DMP with 4 different DCAs covering 7 accounts, not one put a charge of this kind on. It's my belief that had they been allowed to do so then they would have.
Therefore, I'm bordering on thinking that they have no right to add this charge to your debt. However, I would get this checked out properly first, perhaps by one of CAB, CCCS, Payplan.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)
