Overdrawn account from Bankruptcy showing settled but not defaulted

Hi everyone,

I went bankrupt december 30th 2016 and was discharged 2017. I have recently been trying to clean up my credit report and wrote to all my creditors (some several times).

Just checked my free equifax credit report. The default dates are all now showing correct and all the accounts as settled.
However, my halifax current account was 17 pound overdraw when i went bankrupt.
This current account is showing settled in june 2017, with february, march, april and may all as late payments.
Should this have been defaulted too? What is worse, several late payments or a default?

Ive already wrote to each creditor twice dont really want to have to do it again :(

Thanks!

If its showing as settled, I don't really think it matters - the BR on your file will out trump anything else including some late or defaulted payments. They will show for 6 years from the dates and fall off the credit history.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Thats what i assumed, therefore would it be better for them to default it from december 2016? as this will drop off before the last late payment which was may 2017?

    Hi Jono987

Yes, the earlier the default date, the better from your perspective.

You should argue that this default ought to be dated no later than the date of the bankruptcy order as I am assuming the account in question was not in use beyond that point.

Thanks, so an earlier default is definitely better than a later late payment? If that makes sense!

Ill write to them yet again tomorrow!

I had a similar problem with Lloyds Banking Group, they didn't apply the default until much later (almost a year after my BR date) and then sold the accounts to a debt collector, who then applied a default date of around 2 years post BR.

It's definitely worth writing to them again, as you want everything included in the BR to drop off around the same time.
