Careful, Paul Tweed is watching!0

Well, it looks like Arlene needs some money. Avoiding the obvious questions about trusting funds to those who brought you the firewood scandal, how do you think they’ll increase their income.
Here’s a few ideas.
Ending free prescriptions. Let’s face it - do rich women need to get the pill for nothing?
Removal of rates cap. Bring it on.
Toll booths on the motorways. We’re used to it when we cross the Boyne.
Higher fees for further education - already suggested.
Water charges. I’m already paying.
Any other thoughts?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Yes, certainly if their money is monitored by their husband. She may not be able to cover up by saying the price of bananas have gone up.0 -
Well it seems so many would be entitled to free prescriptions in N.I. anyway it would end up costing them money to pay wages etc to run this. I know the last health minister was looking at everyone paying say 50p for their prescription but then they all went home.
Water charges Sinn Fein would never agree. They were totally against this in the South so wouldn't support it up North.
I have read about them discontinuing the free bus passes, but the pensioners would be outraged. This scheme costs ££££ it seems.0 -

Take your point about how do we balance our books. But just to note that free contraception is a UK wide policy not just Northern Ireland. And women aren’t the only beneficiaries of contraception, rich or not!1 -

Yes, I know, but you tell people this down south and they don’t believe you. “ It’s not like they’re ill or something.”
Just putting it out as an idea for saving costs. (No jokes please)
Seems Michelle thinks stormont should be able to squeeze a few pennies more per pound out of high earners the way they do in Scotland. I’m not sure there are enough high earners here to squeeze, and those who could would probably sneak over to the Isle of Man and tax exile the way they did before Margaret thatcher.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

They were only against them after people before profit and the socialist party objected and it looked like there might have been a few votes in it. Meanwhile every earner paid universal social charge, a tax introduced to cover for the bank bailout.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Just read the news - they might as well start with a pay rise. Opposed by the indispensable (even if you can’t stand him) Jim allister.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0
