    I decided that it was all looking like too much risk and effort. Plus, I think I would be uncomfortable about renting out my house when I am many miles away.

    So having considered, I am just going to take a conventional approach, selling my house before I go travelling and buying a house when I return.

    We use an agent to manage renting our - very easy - I think they take 11%.


    Good to have someone in a house - keeps everything workjing (e.g. boiler etc.) and no mould/mustiness from no heating.


    Wait - just realsied the post before mine was in July lasy year! A little late to the party but interesting to see where it went..
