oil/grease stain on carpet?

Hi,
My DH must have got a little spot of oil or similar on his slippers as there are small black marks all up our new stairs/landing/more stairs & bedroom carpet, which is beige.
There was a small spot on the wooden floor in the kitchen and I had to scrub it with some neat pledge wooden floor cleaner to lift it.
The carpet is synthetic, can be cleaned with bleach if needed, but what is the best (and easiest) was to get it out? Thanks

I would try neat washing up liquid. Test on a hidden bit first.0

Lakeland used to do an amazing product called Stain Slayer, I don't think they do it any more but they do have a 'dry clean spray' which might do the trick. Otherwise I'd try something like bicarb which might absorb the oil a bit - bleach is a bit risky, it may take the colour out of the stain but also out of the surrounding area.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Thanks, I'll try a wee bit of fairy liquid, there aren't any hidden bits though-he had it on his foot so it's every other tread on two staircases and big blobs on the landing and on the bedroom carpet! If it doesn't work I'll go for that lakeland stuff.
The carpet is supposed to be colour fast to be cleaned with bleach so if it did take the colour out I reckon I could complain!0 -
Personally I wouldnt use bleach...try Oil of Eucalyptus( available from chemists) You`ll recognize the smell. Often gets lots of unusual stains out. Good luck.0
