@purplemumoftwo yes it’s probably due to unions and their conditions, which are reflected in agency work. I wonder why they pay for lunch.... are people expected to work less sometimes I wonder.0

Ok, that's not good. I'd certainly query that with the employer as they should be giving you the correct holiday pay as well as rate of pay. Got your evidence to show you are being underpaid? Job advert/contract etc.
HOWEVER, you have recently left no? "I was offered a different job over the weekend and took it". Depending on how long you've been with this agency, the pay rate discrepancy and holiday accrual could be negligible (but by all means still query it! More so if you've been with them for longer).
It might just be a case of them offering you X amount in your contract and you accepting that, so it might all be above board. Hard to tell like, but certainly also consider speaking o the likes of ACAS / CAB too.Anyway they have an online portal and I filled out payslip incorrectly - unknown to myself, so I!!!8217;m getting paid a week late. Ok lesson learnt I guess.

Ok, well what did your contract say? It probably says one of two things:
A- You are guaranteed X amount of hours per week (which may well result for 8 hours of pay for 7 hours of work)
B- You are on 0 hours per week and they will offer you hours in line with the work available (which is what you seem to think it is)
If they don't have work then there's no point in you being there! It just boils down to whether or not they contractually have to pay you 8 hours (A) or just the hours worked (B).I was offered a different job over the weekend and took it - more pay and agency was a short term job. Ok. Sounds like you were unhappy with a lot more things with them, so I assume that was just the final straw and the easier reason to provide the agency.However I later found out that I was getting paid got the hour that I didn!!!8217;t work on the Friday. Which is weird as I!!!8217;ve never been in a job that pays for hours you don!!!8217;t work - unless it!!!8217;s a salary and then it!!!8217;s the opposite. I thought it was a bit unfair as the person who started work earlier than me didn!!!8217;t get this !!!8220;free hour!!!8221;.
I!!!8217;m having a few issues coming to terms with it.... because I feel it!!!8217;s quite unfair although I obviously felt the advantage of it. Any thoughts for this cooler Monday :money::j
Strange sense of fairness to be honest... Like I get what you are saying, but you have to remember two things:
1. Life is unfair
2. This isn't a discriminatory issue. You were just in the right place at the right time to benefit from the 1h free. Either hypothetically or practically (depending on how long you and this unspecified colleague of yours stays in the role) it will work out in the long run that you BOTH benefit equally from the free 1 hour. In the long term it is very very unlikely to be "unfair" for any one person.
So yep, I can't really subscribe to your sense of "unfairness" here I'm afraid.0
