Advice needed on PPI
Options
I never thought I would be doing this, but here goes!
I took out a loan in June for £3,800 with Halifax (my own bank)over 7 yrs:eek: .
I was all fine with it til I saw Martin's show.
Repayments of £88.92 I could manage that so there was no problems.
However, times have changed and I have been on signed off sick with a mixture of stress/depression/anxiety since July.
I have only just reliased now that with all the muddling in my head that I can claim on the PPI. Have not contacted the bank yet to see if I can, but then I read into my agreement.
PPI is calculated at £1496.04 then reading further down the calculation sheet I have been charged interest on the PPI £544.20
Have tried to make head and tail of what Martin said in he's PPI guide, and from what I can make out... correct me if i'm wrong... I'm not supposed to be paying interest on the PPI??
Now my dilemma... Do I contact the bank to see if I can claim off it, will they back date it? (I doubt it, but it's not helped me financially).
Can I reclaim it due to being charged the interest on it without knowing it?
Loking further into my paperwork, it has unemployment cover, but doesn't state sickness cover which I was lead to believe was included, unless it comes under that heading.
Policy wording

I have no idea where section 5 lays, but I'd like to find out.
My employment is with a well known high street retail branch, with a contract of 17 and half hours a week, and started there in Sept 2006.
Please can someone give me some guidance as what to do?
Thanks in advance

In that booklet is there a claims telephone number? If so ring them and do the claim by phone.
It is likely that they will require a certificate from your doctors to confirm your illness.
You should be able to backdate your claim providing the policy covers you for a contract of 17.5 hours per week (and this is not a temporary contract).
The bank I work for has a limit of 16 hours so I think you should be ok with this.
Good luck - remember you have paid a premium for instances just like this - go claim what is rightfully yours.0
