I was only 'low paid' because I chose to work part time.

You were nonetheless a victim of the vicious inequality brought about by Tory scum and the misogynist capitalism that blah, blah, blah, blah.

Actually, it was Gordon Brown who introduced SP2 top ups for 'low paid' members of contracted out pension schemes - but I'm sure that he didn't have the likes of me in mind when when he did that !

Having been contracted out from 1978 until I retired at 60, I fully expected my foundation amount to be the old basic State pension - so it was a nice surprise to find it was actually £141 a week.
  • Thank you very much Silvertabby - appreciate your help. It's been suggested that I shouldn't be discussing this here as I've already had advice on my own thread - sorry folks, I will scuttle off back under my rock!

I didn't mind you posting on 'my' thread, aspensky.

I think the reason for the comments are that if someone posts on an existing thread and asks a question, the OP's questions could get lost in a new discussion - which is a bit unfair.

Of course, that wasn't applicable to the thread I started as I was just posting an update to a situation that had been resolved - thanks to MSE members help.
But I have seen it happen.

Also, some people post identical threads on different boards (not you) and can get differing opinions (not likely on this specific board, I guess).

I guess between the 2 threads you've got some excellent answers. :)
