Ikea solar deal

Hi I'm hoping one of you smart number crunching people can help me decide if this is a good offer.

Ikea are currently offering a deal on solar panels 6 x Blue Canadian Solar 270W modules for £2999. Judging by the size guide 6 (or maybe 8 at a push) is the maximum I could fit onto my roof.

I live with my wife we used 3,127kWh last year. Would fitting a system like this make sense?

While solar PV may be a good thing depending on roof orientation, size, pitch, shading, whether you are financing the install or taking a loan and so on, this does not look very good value at £3000 for 1.6kWp (6 x 270 Wp panels).


Others will no doubt chip in but it would be helpful to know rough location, roof orientation, shading and so on so they can give their reasoned thoughts. Then worth getting a few more quotes from local installers to help you make your decision.
