If you're using a taxi in London £20 won't take you far!
I don't think Apple Pay will help, you might as well have the credit card in that case. Take some cash, keep it in your pocket, phone cover or whatever ... you must be wearing some clothing even if underwear doesn't feature?
What's the worst that could happen ... you lose your return ticket? Make sure you've got enough to cover the cost of a new ticket.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
I don't know your circumstances at all, but for me what worked when I was a young un and thought I could spend with abandon, was to open an account for "fun money only".
It wasn't much, but it got me through many a tight squeeze back in the day.
I still have one and it's great, separate from everything else and it is just for happy things.
Otherwise, the couple of notes tucked away is good too. What do you spend on when in London anyway just to ask!0 -
I was in the London 'burbs a litlle while ago myself and opened my handbag to find...no purse! After the initial shock of realising I hadn't transferred it from the handbag that I'd used the previous day, to my great shame I had to ask an acquaintance to "lend" me a note. They were happy to do so on the assumption that I'd repay them the next time I saw them, but realising this might be some months I called my bank there and then to arrane a transfer of funds. The money was within their account in seconds.

But for that reason, I'd recommend the element of restraint is placed between you and your cash / credit card rather than leaving yourself vulnerable to unforeseeables. There is a time and place for tough love and this ain't it I'd suggest you track down some old episodes of the BBC's "Spendaholics" to offer you motivation.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Put a couple of notes in an envelope, seal it with tape, roll it up and seal it with tape again, store in the deepest pocket of your bag. It's there to rip open with your teeth in an emergency, but you're unlikely to bother for a coffee or trashy magazine impulse buy. They are an EYESORES!!!!0

I would still advocate keeping emergency cash on your person somewhere. A good friend of mine was jostled on an escalator and when she got to the bottom discovered that the strap was still over her shoulder but her bag had been neatly cut off.
That was why I stuffed my cash in my bra.
Let them try cutting that off.I believe that friends are quiet angels
