Thank you again for the advice folks. Sourcrates - yeah we looked up actuators ourselves online as well and saw the huge price difference. I believe it!!!8217;s older models that can have this specific part sourced separately, but not newer models. No idea why - something I have questioned Mazda on.

Luckily we!!!8217;ve had a bit of good luck. After an email to Mazda explaining our personal situation plus disappointment at the issues with the car and their customer service thus far, they!!!8217;ve agreed to pay for a !!!8220;significant portion!!!8221; of the repair for us. My partner has the car booked in with a Mazda garage for the end of the month. We obviously don!!!8217;t know how much the amount they will cover will be, but keeping positive and hoping that we!!!8217;ll ultimately pay a lot less than £2k! If the bill is significantly less than this then we should be able to pay it out our savings - hopefully!

Hey folks, just thought I would pop back to update on how we got on here. Luckily it's a happy outcome - my partner had his turbo replaced at a Mazda garage free of charge and finally has a working car again after 3 months. We found out that after we paid out £600 a few months back for both of his break callipers & pads (and a few other bits & bobs) to be replaced, his car actually had a recall on it specifically for the break callipers. He specifically called Mazda to check if this was the case before getting this repair done and was told there was no recall - which was just incorrect.

We've actually been told to submit the receipts for these and they will refund "a partial amount of the money" for these too. We had terrible customer service from Mazda from start to finish, so I think this was why they eventually just waived the bill entirely.

All in all it's good news. :) Definitely a good idea to get advice and ask around before just forking out a huge sum for car repairs and to voice your concerns with the manufacturer directly if you aren't happy with something.

You can check if there are any safety recalls on the DVSA website at the bottom of the following page once you've entered the reg details.
