Hello - looking for some advice please.
Have received a letter from the above company about a debt with southern electric from my previous address that I left almost 3 years ago.
I am not necessarily denying the debt as I had a period where I was quite mentally unwell and let things get on top of me.
The letter states that the original debt was £800 and there is a “fee” added of £121.28, taking the debt to over £900.
I do owe this money and so need to take my head out the sand bit could I argue over this “fee” that’s been added? I have no idea what the fee is.
They have also said southern electric are willing to accept £465 to settle the account. I don’t have that amount to hand. Is it worth asking if they’d accept the lower amount over a period of time?
Sorry for all the questions! Thanks for any answers in advance!

The reduced amount will be for immediate settlement only
You can ask them for a breakdown of the debt if you need one.0 -
Ok thank you.
I have gathered that it!!!8217;s best to do stuff in writing. In asking for a breakdown of the debt would the advise what the fee is?
The original balance is my debt. Just facing such a large amount I don!!!8217;t really want to pay a fee on top!0
