Reclaiming Ppi From Alliance & Leicester

We bought a static caravan in 2004 and took out PPI. After the recent news about these policies,I wrote a letter to A & L requesting repayment of the PPI as I believed we had been missold the policy. The loan was done by telephone and the operator recommended the PPI as my OH is self-employed. She said it would be better as he is the major salary earner. They acknowledged the letter, then sent another letter saying basically no but we're going to cancel the current loan and the PPI and redo a new loan for the remaining term (2 years from now). I contacted the Financial Ombudsment and sent them the documents but I just ended up getting another letter from A & L saying the same thing ' we've had the benefit of the policy for the past 2 years (and well basically so there). We will never know now if they would have paid out but now after seeing Martin on Trev McDon's programme I don't know what to do about this now, as I've already tried and failed. Should I send the one of the letter templates and see what happens? Your help would be appreciated

this is my first post, and i too was encouraged to take out ppi with A&L back in 2002, i have just come accross this site and have posted off my letter with the intention of "trying" to relcaim the costs back. Essentially i was told over the phone that my application was viewed more favorably if i took out the cover. I too brought a caravan, and i only have three payments left to make, hopefully i am not too late!

Got an alliance and leicester loan in october 2004 apaprantly they didnt have the recording system they have now so were unable to say if i was mis-sold policy or not.

Pleasing thing was they fully reimbursed me a total of £725 used a template letter of here, well chuffed.

Think I'll send the template letters magee737. I've nothing to lose except a few more 1st class stamps.
