Bonfire Cake - Help

A couple of years ago I made a bonfire cake that was the shape of a bonfire and covered in matchmakers, to give the effect of wood. We stuck a couple of sparklers in the top and it was a big success. BUT I can't find the reciepe.
I am sure the cake was covered in a cream cheese mix so the matchmakers would stick, does anybody have any idea what I would mix with the cream cheese?
Thanks x

It was probably icing sugar mixed with the cream cheese and maybe lemon juice for flavour. Buttercream would also work0
