"Dismissal" is the technical word and so your employer is correct to use it in the context of formally confirming your redundancy. You are dismissed on the grounds of redundancy.
If you are concerned that any reference would simply say "dismissed", contact HR and just check with them that they would say you had left "as a consequence of redundancy" or something like that. Even saying you were "dismissed on the grounds of redundancy" would be understood by another employer reading the reference, so don't worry about this.0
