Joint bank account

Hi, I have a joint account with my ex-patner that we used to pay bills, however since splitting up I have changed utilities to solely my name. I am going to get him to signs the docs to remove his name from the joint account, but does anyone know if the account holders changing I.e. going from Mr&Mrs to just Mrs, but acc no, sort code staying the same will have any impact on DD payments - just don’t want to be charged.

Think you'll end up with a completely new account where you would just migrate everything over too.

Ex- personal banker here - no, it shouldn!!!8217;t affect your account number & sort code or any payments set up on the account. They will just remove your partner!!!8217;s name from the account & their ability to access it unless you specifically ask them to close it & open a new account for you.

DDRs are set up using your sort code & account number, so long as that doesn!!!8217;t change, your payments shouldn!!!8217;t be cancelled.

^^ wot Kboss said...when I & the ex-h separated I held onto the former student NatWest account held at Liverpool Uni (the branch name looked good on cheques!), had his name removed & still have that account 20 years later.
