Old Style Daily Tuesday 10th July 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
I did take the sandals back to the shop yesterday afternoon in the end. I wasn’t sure whether or not I could or should do this. When I got there I walked around for a long while thinking about it. When I eventually went in and asked, it turned out the person who I was speaking to was the manageress and she was more than happy to refund my card back for the original cost and re-charge me at the sale price. She said that people coming in doing the same thing is very common when a sale starts. She said that she had done exactly the same thing in M&S at the weekend.
I had forgotten that I was going with my neighbour to her chiropodist appointment yesterday, so that through me out a bit. We went into town for our usual coffee after her appointment, and she bought me a lovely slice of coffee and walnut cake.
The kitchen finally got its good clean yesterday evening as it was a bit cooler, and today I plan to go through the rest of the house and get up to date.
As the temperature has dropped a bit I think I will have something different for dinner this evening, and make a fish pie.
RosyRed I’m so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that treatment goes well for her. It would be good if the garden problem could be resolved before it gets to court. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Thinking of you LameWolf.
Gers I’m gladthat there has been some improvement in your mum’s condition.
The saga with Mr TA’s meds just seems to go on for you TA, this is all added stress that you don’t need.
Camelot It sounds like you had a good time with your grandchildren, it sounds quite tiring though.
Meanmarie it sounds like you had a lovely relaxing holiday in Sardinia, I hope that you enjoyed yourself.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning HOLLY and fellow non-sleepers. I have been awake since 2.00 worrying worse than ever. I know it won't help or change anything but I can't help it. I'll be neither use nor ornament when I get up. I got fed up of tossing and turning and de-camped to one of the DGD's beds.I have been trying to read but find myself reading the same page over and over.
I thought I had done my share of caring after 12 years of hell looking after my mother who suffered from Parkinsons and dementia. But here we go again and I worry how I will cope as Mr TA is getting progressively worse day by day and I am not getting any younger.
I am sorry for moaning but life is getting on top of me. I will bounce back I'm sure but, just now, I feel at a very low ebb. Everything seems worse in the early hours when all is quiet.
I'll try and do a bit of reading again now. Have a good day folks and take care. ((HUGS)) to all those in need/want of them xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to TA, LW and anyone else in need.
I shall pop into the pharmacy this morning as the bite on my arm is blister g badly.
A flock of 30 geese have just sailed past me.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning
TA if anyone on here has a right to have a moan its you hun and its also a rare event. I know if I was going throughwhat you are then there would be far more moaning. Hope today is a better day for you
Holly good result on the sandals I'm afraid it confused my small brain why some people were saying they wouldn't. Surely this is a money saving board.
Gers so glad there is improvement with your mum. Grumping about Boris is a clear sign of getting better
Rosy red sorry to hear about your friend sure she will be glad to have you as a friend as things get difficult
Of to work soon which after quite some time I am a little nervous about. Going in well early as I haven't been to this site and I will need to find parking. Its a leadership programme which is normally really fun and interactive but today I have one delegate so I can only hope they are a laugh poor thing will not be expecting to be on their own either. Not very happy they ran it with one but their policy is never to cancel...hey ho maybe it will be a nice and relaxed coaching situation.
Right im off have a good day if you can everyone0 -
Disappearing post day again.
I'm not going to type it all out again.
TA you must be so worried and I hope this is a safe space for you to express that.
Gers, hope your mum continues to improve.
Rosyred, thinking of your friend.
LW, thinking if you.
Had a long chat with my mum yesterday, much of it was her complaining about the heat and most of the rest about her holiday, I do hope she enjoys it as much as she expects to. She has always enjoyed frequent holidays but hasn't been able to go in the past few years as her late husband was not well enough.
I haven't any specific plans today, I do have lots to do but not interesting things so I'll not bore you to bits with those.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

The heat got to me yesterday morning, I woke up feeling awful. I took Scampi out anyway, if I don't go early he doesn't get a decent walk that day, it's just too hot. I shouldn't have bothered, he spent the whole time looking at me, I'm sure he knew I wasn't feeling well, and protected me by warning anyone/anything that got close. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don't appreciate his method
We pulled some onions up last night, they're a bit smaller than I'd like but look great. I'll be plaiting them today, they store better that way and look fab hanging on the kitchen wallThere's some garlic too but I don't think they'll plait well, the stalks are very thick and the bulbs will be lost in the twists and turns, lol.
It's cloudy and cool this morning, such a relief. The shopping is coming later, I've cleaned the fridge and wiped the cupboard shelves while they're at their emptiest. Not sure what to do once the food has been put away and plaited. I hope it stays cool – or at least doesn't get too hot - so Scampi can spend some time in the garden, he's usually a busy boy and has been bored staying indoors for most of the day.

Good morning everyone, it's fine and sunny here, but definitely cooler. It's an improvement on yesterday which was grey all day. Thanks Holly for starting.
TA, I'm sorry you're feeling so low. Things do seem much worse in the small hours, and it's no good people telling you not to worry, you can't change anything and so on, you just can't help it.
The night seems never ending, then as you say, you're fit for nothing the next day. it's an awful situation for you and Mr TA. Sorry not to be able to offer anything positive. Thinking of you, though I know that's not a lot of good.
Glad your Mum is a bit better Gers
Thoughts to Lame Wolf, and Mr LW.
Bella bella, hope you feel better soon.
Hope you manage ok today Nelski.0 -
Morning all
Looks like another lovely day here, off to work for me which will be very hot in the kitchen again, even with all the doors / windows open.
Quiche tonight with new pots and asparagus, dd is on a course today and does not know what time she will be back, so I can hold this for her or she can reheat later.
Need to hang the washing before work this morning and have a sweep through when I get in.
Rosy I am sorry to hear about your friend I do hope her recovery goes well xx
Specky im glad the date went well but she does sound very keen !!
Nelski I suppose its all down to personal opinion, I just would not feel comfortable doing that at all and money saving site or not it just would not feel right to me, but each to their own
TA I wish there was something I could go do help you, I am sending love and hugs tot he both of you xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Specky glad to hear the date went well
LW thinking of you
Bella Hope you feel better soon
Cooler this morning, housework or go out? maybe a little of each
Need to decide on what I need to buy to replace sky tv, freesat, freeview, smart tv no idea and have thought about a new phone or tablet so I can use apps. When I go into the shop I don't seem to understand anything they say after good morningIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
We've had rain!! I woke up about 7 to the sound of rain outside but it's stopped now, hardly enough to wet the ground. We were forecast drizzle for yesterday but there wasn't a cloud in the sky all day.
I picked another two courgettes yesterday, I fear there may be a glut very soon, I've been looking up how to make chutney with them. I think it may be the same with cucumbers in a week or so, they grow so quickly!
I have ironing to do this morning and a haircut this afternoon, hardly a taxing day.
TA, I wish I could do more to help than send love and support.
Gers - Hopefully your DM will be well enough to come home very soon.
Glad your date went well Speky.
Hope you feel better soon bella.
Back at work already Nelski? Good luck.
Thinking of you LW.
Right, the ironing is calling while it's cool. Take care. XX0
