use by date
Hi
Can anyone advise who I contact regarding a large supermarket chain selling me out of date food?
I purchased a pack of chicken wings on 5th July and did a BBQ marinade and cooked them on the Friday (6th July) I had eaten some and then one of them was rancid.
I checked the sell by date and noticed that they had a USE BY date of 3/7
I tweeted the company at 8.21 and they apologised profusely and awarded me with a £10 voucher. However that evening I had a very disturbed night with cramps and the runs Thank god I hadn't eaten all of them. Yes I should have checked the date myself but it was hot and I had just finished work and was tetchy.
I do not believe that this supermarket chain will 'act' appropriately. This could have been much worse than it was, but also to offer £7 (chicken cost over £3) as an apology was insulting.
I have tweeted to company again today telling them so and that I will be notifying the legal body.. but no idea who
Any advice?
Thanks
J

The FSA I guess, what would you want them to do though ?
Did anyone die or seriously ill ? No
Yes you had cramps and the runs but are still alive.
What would you like the retailer to offer ?
What makes you think the retailer wont act appropriately ?0
