I have a sister in law who is 70 this year she loves fizzy wine so cava prosecco or champagne.

Foe my dad when he was 70 we got him a weekend away (with mum)

For my father in law when he was 70 he wanted a personalised Man United shirt! Horses for courses.

Help us out, budget, likes dislikes male/female!

Whats your budget? Can a few of you chip in together and do a family weekend away?
Or host a party for them?

Do they like gardening? A rose bush or garden bench?

Do they like a certain alcohol? A really nice bottle of their fave?

Male or female? jewellery? or cufflinks?

    A photoshoot of the family?

Why bother asking and then not returning to the post?

    Sorry Sue and Sarah,

I meant to check back in much sooner.

It's for my grand mums 70th. She doesn't drink, (health reasons). Those are great ideas. Gardening is a bit to much for her now.

We finally booked 2 tickets for a 3 course Sunday roast on a steam train from Bury. I think she'll love this. Bit pricey but it is her 70th.

I also sent a birthday telegram from The Telegram Office which I think she'll love to.

Thanks again for all your ideas. I'll check back in with an update on the lunch.
    Many thanks,

    So to catch up...

Gran had a wonderful time. We took the 1st class steam train from Bury, Lancs on the East Lancs Railway.

We had a 3 course lunch on board as we travelled about 30 mins east and back. Lovely weather, a tooting train and traditional 1st class dining made it a really fun experience.

I found uksteam.info which lists steam train outings from across the country for anyone considering the same.

Gran also loved the telegram which I sent with a personalised birthday greeting from all the family.

    Thanks again for the ideas.
