Or is that just me? For a few years now we've preferred Tesco's value products over the other supermarket value ranges, but since this rebranding started kicking in, the product quality is getting worse.

The baked beans (now Stockwell) are watery (Asda's value ones went that way a few months back, so we'd swapped to exclusively Tesco until now, now we're back to Asda and their own brand as Tesco own brand are too sweet).

The value chocolate mousse (now Ms Molly) and Tesco own brand low fat yogurts (now Creamfields) both taste chemical with an aftertaste - the kids won't touch them, and I don't blame them.

Thankfully the luncheon meat and value chicken pies (I have a child who doesn't like the textures of the better brands) seem to have stayed the same quality, but that means these are the only two items keeping me with Tesco at all now, everything else is the same or cheaper/better elsewhere.

Add the loss of the F&F/Direct delivery from the delivery saver, and I think I won't be renewing this time around.

Eastman's Deli and their newspaper advert for pork pies says: "From proper pork pies ... to crunchy coleslaw, all our food has been inspired by local delis that we know and love".

Does anyone know which local delis' products were used as inspiration for these products? Or is the advert a bit of a porky?

The coleslaw seemed more watery than Value used to be ...

There are only 2 things I go out of my way to shop in Tescos for: one is their everyday value cornflakes, and the other is their own version of Branston - and I have bought neither for some time. I'd like to know if these products are part of the rebranding exercise.

All Tesco is interested in doing a re brand is to swell thier profits.

Tesco will never beat Aldi or Lidl as they give a good product, at a reasonable price.

All Tesco are interested in is price, not quality.

Have no idea about the pickle, but the value cornflakes haven't been in stock on my online shopping for a couple of weeks now, so I'd guess they are (I'd forgotten about them, the only value cornflakes that are nice to eat)

I dont agree with Aldi / Lidl. Some of their products are good, some are terrible.
Mainly the fresh stuff is decent (although shelf life is often short compared to others). I've found their toiletries & cleaning products to be very watery, and some tinned stuff tasted a bit off.

Avoid the Tesco Stockwell mayonnaise, reading the ingredients list, it has an total cheek to call itself mayonnaise! Revolting.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

Not sure why the 3rd ingredient is sugar syrup.
At Stockwell & Co, you'll find all the traditional pantry essentials you need to get good, honest, food on the table
Water, Rapeseed Oil (25%), Glucose-Fructose Syrup, Modified Maize Starch, Spirit Vinegar, Pasteurised Egg Yolk (2%), Salt, Acidity Regulator (Lactic Acid), Preservative (Sorbic Acid), Stabilisers (Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum), Flavouring (contains Mustard)

In comparison Tesco Real Mayonnaise is only twice the price and has
Rapeseed Oil (78%), Water, Free Range Pasteurised Egg (6%), Spirit Vinegar, Free Range Pasteurised Egg Yolk (1.5%), (etc)

And Hellemanns is twice the price again and has
Rapeseed oil (78%), water, pasteurised free range EGG & EGG Yolk (7.9%), spirit vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, antioxidant (calcium disodium EDTA), flavourings, paprika extract

    (all checked today at tesco.com)

I gave them a go after a TV programme put them top in a blind taste test.

Although generally I try to avoid buying cereal, as if I have it in the house I fill up on it at the expense of eating real food.

Has anyone else tried the rebranded value porridge oats ?

I've had the value ones for years and they've always been fine. I ordered the 'Growers Harvest' one, thinking that all that had changed was the packaging, and they're like sawdust - no whole oatflakes all small fragments. Have I just been unlucky and got the end of the batch ? Or is this what the new ones are like ?

I totally agree about the oats.
I bought two bags earlier in the week.
I have opened one bag and made porridge three times and not at all happy.
    The texture is horrible.

I will be returning the second bag and buying oats from Lidl which was my second choice and has now been promoted!

And the labelling on the bag of Tesco oats made me laugh....apparently the new product is from a farm!!
